Roll of Honour

Remembrance

This website is owned by The Arctic Convoy Club of New Zealand © 2004 - 2024  This page updated February 2024

They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning
We will remember them

E kore ratou i koroua wawe
Penei i a tatou kua mahue nei
E kore hoki ratou e ngoikore
Ahakoa pehea i nga ahuatanga o te wa
I te hekenga atu o te ra
Tae noa i te aranga mai o te ata
Ka maumahara tonu matou ki a ratou

Verse 4 "For the Fallen"
Laurence Binyon

ODE FOR THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED

His/Her service was straight and true
And it was for me - and you
Their time on land, in the air and on the rolling wave
Did not condemn them to a foreign field and early grave
History does not record their name in the fallen ranks
But – still – they are owed the nation’s thanks
WE WILL REMEMBER HIM/HER

Ko tonā taikaha he tōtika, he ngākau pono
Ko tōna taikaha he mea mōku - he mea mōu
